LA LA big city of dreams.

What a whirlwind weekend! I touched down in LA on Saturday wit some folks from KPFA and ended up at my friend Jahi's house with ten minutes to get dressed and hit the mean streets of LA. First stop...Hotel Cafe. Jahi, Esthero, and I went to see a friend of hers perform and caught the last five minutes. She was dope. For folks that dont know who Eshtero is (I highly doubt)look her up. She has a new album coming out soon and it had me in tears yesterday morning. Pure beauty. We bounced from that spot and headed over to Happy Feet to see my girl Rashida, Bob, and Rich do their thing. That spot was hot as hell! Damn. I spent most of the night out back talking to folks I hadnt seen in a minute. Blu, J Logic, Mona Lisa, DJ Jedi, Om'mas, two tall ass dancers from NY, Tajai, etc...Loved to see everyone! Good vibes all around. Day 2- UCLA Jazzfest. Basically a huge bore as it is every year. I mean, I love me some DE LA and Badu but that space is always lackluster. I cant figure it out. With all those fine people in that spot you would think it would be a party. I took a nap. Headed over to the DO-OVER and used my small amount of DJ fame to skip that long ass line and fall in. That spot was crackin and my girl Dana immediately spilled her wine on me. It isnt a party until someone spills their drinks on you! Great music. DJ Higher killed it as usual. Stop 3 - My dudes Jav and Jerry's spot at Opera. I knew what to expect. A bunch of folks standing around looking at each other while girls in short skirts and badly dressed men try to holla at one another. The fashion/art/sneaker/skater/rapper/dj crew that is mine huddled around and talked shit until we were blue in the face and bored to death. Bouncing from that spot early is always inevitable. Im not mad tho. J&J are getting checks off that shit. It is always nice to be around my folks. Monday - Mario Cart with Esthero. She played, I watched. Album review. Tears. Talks. Girl bonding at its best.
I love LA and I cannot wait to touch down next year with a bunch of new projects in hand and the glass ceiling to bust open. Until next time.

Somebody please find Daichi and tell him I'm in love!

I know I'm a few days late but I just wanted to say that Cinco De Mayo is not Mexican Independence day. It is in September. All the companies supporting this "holiday" are beer companies and it's just another ploy to get people to spend. I'm not buying it.
Now Lucha Libre...that's some shit Im down with.

DAMN SON!!

Indian scavengers look for coins and other valuable items from among the offerings of devotees in the Ganges at Varanasi on April 5, 2009. More than 400 million people live along the Ganges River. An estimated 2,000,000 persons ritually bathe daily in the river, which is considered holy by Hindus. In the Hindu religion it is said to flow from the lotus feet of Vishnu (for Vaisnava devotees) or the hair of Shiva (for Saivites). While the Ganges may be considered holy, there are some problems associated with the ecology. It is filled with chemical wastes, sewage and even the remains of human and animal corpses which carry major health risks by either direct bathing in the water (e.g.: Bilharziasis infection), or by drinking (the Fecal-oral route). Music of Resistance. Part 1&2.

I need this film in my life.

Lyrically Beautiful.

I don’t know*
Miúcha & Tom Jobim (w/ Chico Buarque)

There’s days that I just sit thinking about life
And sincerely, I don’t see a way out
How is it for example that one can understand
We barely are born when we start to die
After the arrival, there’s always the goodbye
Because there’s nothing without seperation

First off, let me just say this. Fuck Asher Roth. His name alone works my nerves. I havent even heard his music and I give two shits about whether or not he has talent. He is an idiot. The mere fact that those words came out of his mouth should authorize a bitch slap. He would of been slaughtered by at least ten emcees by now for his comments had this been the late 80's, early 90's. Im calling Professor X on his ass. What happened to the good ol days when we had a bunch of fresh black nationalist HipHop groups keeping bitch ass artists on their toes? What do we have now? Nothin. HipHop is in a sorry state folks. Barack is president and folks have hung up their gloves. Pitiful.

The perfect friday music.
